# Test is Slow and Laggy

> Troubleshoot slow performance during proctored tests. AutoProctor's real-time video capture and AI analysis require more processing power than typical web applications.

If your test loads but runs slowly or feels laggy, your device may not have enough processing power to handle AutoProctor's real-time proctoring features alongside the test itself. Your device may run everyday apps like YouTube and social media perfectly, but AutoProctor captures video and runs AI algorithms simultaneously, which demands significantly more resources.

<Note>
  **Minimum device requirements for smooth performance:**

  | Requirement | Specification                                        |
  | ----------- | ---------------------------------------------------- |
  | Processor   | Dual-core CPU (Intel i3 / AMD equivalent or better)  |
  | RAM         | 4 GB minimum (8 GB recommended)                      |
  | Browser | Latest version of Chrome, Edge, or Firefox |
  | Internet | Stable connection with at least 2 Mbps upload speed |
  | Camera      | Built-in or external webcam supporting at least 720p |
</Note>

## How to Fix It

<Steps>
  <Step title="Close all other applications">
    Close all unnecessary applications and browser tabs to free up processing power and memory for AutoProctor.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Restart your device before the test">
    Restart your device immediately before taking the test. This clears temporary files and frees up system resources.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Disable unnecessary browser extensions">
    Browser extensions consume memory and CPU. Disable extensions you do not need during the test.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Use a wired internet connection if possible">
    A wired Ethernet connection is more stable and faster than Wi-Fi, which can help reduce lag during the test.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Switch to a different device if needed">
    If you still experience performance issues after following these steps, your device may not have sufficient hardware to run AutoProctor's video capture and AI-based proctoring simultaneously. You will need to use a more powerful device.
  </Step>
</Steps>
